Islamic thinker of Kurdish origin, born 1876 and died 1960. Best known for his commentary on the Qur'an, largely a collection of sermons, known as the Risale-i Nur, and as an advocate of Islam strongly committed to non-violence and constructive engagement with the West and Christianity.
