This category is the umbrella category for all organizations that have their roots (however distant)in the Cursillo (kur-SEE-yo) movement of the Roman Catholic Church. Cursillo began on the island of Mallorca, Spain. The cursillo of January 7, 1949 is usually considered to be the first actual cursillo. Cursillo de Christianidad is the full name of cursillo and means a "short course" in Christianity. All cursillo derived organization's purpose is to equip and inspire Christian lay leaders to be servant leaders in their churches and to evangelize their environments (such as work, home, and community).
