Cursillo (kur-SEE-yo) is a Christian renewal movement of the Catholic Church. Cursillo de Christianidad is the full name of cursillo and means a "short course" in Christianity. Cursillo weekends began on the Island of Mallorca, Spain, in August 1944. The Cursillo of January 7, 1949 is usually considered to be the first "approved" cursillo. Cursillo's purpose is to equip and inspire Christian lay leaders to be servant leaders in their churches and to evangelize their environments (such as work, home, and community). For additional information about the Cursillo movement in USA, see http://www.cursillo.org/
