Lutherans follow a church year similar to that of other liturgical bodies. It begins in Advent and is anchored by the three major festivals of Christmas, Easter, and Pentecost. There are also many minor feasts and commemorations through its seasons. Normed by the appointed Gospels, the days and seasons follow the life of Christ, the growth of the Christian Church, and echo also the ebb and flow of human life and emotions.
