Cut off from the rest of San Diego by Mount Soledad and bordered on the north and west by the Pacific Ocean, La Jolla is a unique area of coastline parks, elegant shopping, and Mediterranean-style homes. Technically it is part of the city of San Diego, but in many ways it remains a relatively isolated community all its own.
