Nick Faldo was born 1957 in Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire, England. Nick showed an early interest in sports and his parents, Joyce and George, helped him in any way they could. When he wanted to play tennis his father booked a tennis instructor for him, when he got interested in swimming his father got him into a club and it was the same with athletics and cycling. Nick turned pro 1976 and in 1977 was he the youngest player ever to play in the Ryder cup. The Ryder cup was played at Royal Lytham & St Anne's and Nick, only 20 years old, won all his three matches. He played his single match against Tom Watson and he won on the last green.
