Daughter of King Offa of Mercia. Hermit at Crowland, fl. 795. Possibly some details of her legend confuse her with her sister Aelfleda. Feast day: 2 August. Also called Elfthritha, Aefthryth, Alfritha, and Etheldreda, but must not be confused with St. Etheldreda the daughter of Anna, who was the founder of Ely.
