Sites related to St. Philomena, whose feast day was formerly 11 August.
In 1802, the bones of a girl were found in the Catacomb of Priscilla. Because of symbols on the tiles, and a glass vial, the relics were thought to be those of a Christian virgin and martyr named Philumena. She was canonized in 1837. This was due solely to miracles attributed to her, since we know nothing of her life. Philomena's cultus was suppressed in 1961, because no facts are known about the girl.
