Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) will launch in 2008 and will study and help us understand the source of the Sun's energy, the solar interior, as well as the many manifestations of the storage and release of energy in the Sun's atmospheric layers. SDO will provide us with the tools and scientific understanding that will enable us to improve the quality of forecasts of solar activity.
