Lydia White is a leading expert in second language acquisition (SLA). She is the James McGill professor of linguistics. Her book, "Second language acquisition and Universal grammar" is a standard textbook in many university-level SLA courses. She is one of the strongest proponents of the role of UG in second language acquisition.
