Atayal is a Atayalic Formosan member of the Austronesian language family spoken by approximately 63,000 speakers in the Ketagalan region of Formosa (Taiwan). Alternative names for Atayal include Tayal, Tyal, Taiyal, Ataiyal, Attayal, Taijyal, Bonotsek, shabogala, Takonan, Tangao and Yukan.
