Lincoln Douglas (LD) debate is a competitive activity done on the high school and college level. Debating is giving a series of a speeches, one after another, intended to convince the judge on a point of view in a resolution, a statement which debaters argue for and against. LD resolutions are generally philosophical and debaters quote both philosophers and contemporary sources to make their points.
