A primary entrance to the state, Bennington is the third largest locality. Bennington is located in the southwestern part of Bennington County, and is surrounded by two beautiful mountain ranges, the Taconics and the Green Mountains, and the Walloomsac River flows through the town. The town is directly adjacent to New York State and 14 miles away from Massachusetts. Bennington serves as the urban, commercial and industrial center for Bennington County. Bennington is only a short distance from major commercial highways and dense areas of commerce, yet is far removed from a metropolitan lifestyle.
