The Parkville neighborhood is one of Hartford's smallest and is a mix of residential side streets, retail and an industrial area built along the railroad tracks. The Pope Hartford automobile was built in Parkville, as were Royal Typewriters.
The predominant ethnic group represented is Portuguese. There are also numerous Asian-run restaurants, clothing stores, and gift shops. Parkville residents are also culturally diverse with a large Portuguese and Puerto Rican population as well as a mixture of African American, Asian, and ethnic whites.
