East Haven [New Haven County] Connecticut was named in 1707, and incorporated from New Haven in 1785. Its original name was Iron Works Village.

Principal industry, wholesale distribution and warehousing, electronic components and equipment, architectural castings, high-tech welding equipment; research and development, printing, insurance and investments.
East Haven is considered a part of the New Haven Metro Area.
