Avon [Hartford County] Connecticut was incorporated from Farmington in May, 1830, and named from Avon river at Stratford-on-Avon. Formerly called Northington.
Area, 23.5 sq. miles. Population, est., 14,093. Voting districts, 1. Principal industries, insurance, printing, manufacture of time devices, jet engine testing equipment, concrete products and poultry processing, reflective tapes, fiber optics and medical facilities.
