Ansonia [New Haven County] Connecticut was incorporated from Derby in 1889 and named from Anson G. Phelps, founder of the manufacturing village, 1843.
Area, 6.2 sq. miles. Population, est., 17,716. Voting districts, 7. Birthplace of Gen. David Humphreys. Principal industries, manufacture of copper and brass, plastics, latex foam, electronics, automatic screw machine products, novelties.
Ansonia is considered a part of the New Haven Metro Area.
