Rideau Lakes Township is located between Kingston and Ottawa. It came into being on January 1, 1998 as a result of an amalgamation of the Townships of North Crosby, South Crosby, Bastard and South Burgess, South Elmsley, and the Village of Newboro. It is made up of many scenic villages, including Morton, Elgin, Chaffeys Locks, Jones Falls, Crosby, Newboro, Portland, Phillipsville, Lombardy, and Chantry.
