Port Hardy is as far north as the roads go on Vancouver Island. It was named after Vice-Admiral Sir Thomas Masterson Hardy, former captain of the H.M.S. Victory. With a population over over 5,000, it serves as the southern terminal for B.C. Ferries' service to Prince Rupert via The Inside Passage.
