Primary Care Trusts are groups of local healthcare and social care professionals who together, with patient and Health Authority representatives, take devolved responsibility for the healthcare needs of their local community. They are intended to bring GPs, nurses and other local stakeholders together and give them a lead role in the planning, provision and development of local health services.
