Oakford is a village 10km north of Tiverton, in the parish of Oakford on the boundary with Somerset to the north,
with the River Exe forming the east boundary. The original bridge crossing is at the village of Oakfordbridge.
The Mid Devon parish of Bampton is on the east bank of the River Exe, The main bridge across the Exe is further downstream
at Black Cat, where the B3227 leads to the Bampton village The A396 main road between Tiverton to Exmoor
leads up the Exe valley on the east bank avoiding the parish of Oakford. The south boundary of Oakford includes Stuckeridge,
