Lapford, population about 1015, is a village just off the A377 trunk road, the main village to the north with teh railway station and Lapford Cross to the south.
The larger parish of Morchard Bishop is to the south east, the upper reaches of the Dart; Little Dart, to the north, Chawleigh to the north west, Nymet Rowland to the west and south.
