Antony Gormley, British sculptor, born 1950 London. He interprets the human form in various positions and mediums, with the latter including lead, iron, and terracotta. Best known for the 'Angel of the North' (1995) at Gateshead, and 'Field' (1991) consisting of 35,000 terracotta clay figures. Gormley won the Turner Prize in 1994, and was awarded the OBE for services to sculpture in 1998.
