Calpe (or Calp in Catalan) is a coastal town located in the comarca of La Marina Alta, in the province of Alicante, Spain, by the Mediterranean Sea. According to the 2004 census, Calpe has a total population of 22,466 inhabitants, most of them foreigners. It has an area of 23.5 km2 and a population density of 855,45 inhab/km2. The city is located 60 km from the city of Alicante, lying at the foot of the Natural Park of Peñón de Ifach, (Ifach Rock).
