This district is located between Latitude N 24 o 50' and N 23o43' and Longitude E 88o46' and E 87o49'.The district got its present name in the early eighteenth century and its present shape in the latter half of the eighteenth century. The earliest evidence of history in the district date back to the pre-historic days perhaps as early as circa 1500 B.C.
