Concept Mapping is a technique for improving information generation, organization, retention, and understanding. Ideas are recorded in a simple graphic format as they come to mind, or are mentioned in a conversation, meeting, or class. The format emphasizes relationships between concepts. As in brainstorming, no idea that comes to mind is silly or unimportant. Seek out relationships between ideas as you analyze your diagram later. This is also known as Mind Mapping, which generally refers to a specific, graphic technique.
