The College of Education was formed at the University of Saskatchewan in 1927. Previously, teacher education was a non-degree program, first taught at Normal School and then at Teacher's College. The College offers courses leading to a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.). Students may complete a 5-year combined Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Music in Music Education or Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology/Bachelor of Education. The College also offers classes leading to certificates: Aboriginal Teacher Associate, Ecological Education, Methods of Teaching Heritage Languages, Post-Secondary Technical Vocational Education. The College offers programs leading to the Master of Education degree. The Department of Educational Administration has a regular Ph.D. program. Programs leading to a Ph.D. degree in other departments are available on a special case basis. Post-graduate Diploma programs are also available.
