Orthorexia is a recently identified condition in which a person becomes obsessed with only eating foods that he or she considers to be healthy. Orthorexia Nervosa is the condition in which a person avoids foods he or she considers to be unhealthy or harmful.
Unlike anorexia, orthorexia is not caused by trying to lose weight or get thinner. But, like other eating disorders, choosing the right foods and controlling what is eaten becomes more important than everything else. This often leads to extreme weight loss and serious health problems.
