Dyscalculia is a specific learning disability in mathematics, caused by a difference in the way the brain processes information.
People with this condition may have trouble making change, balancing a checkbook, remembering math formulas, or transposing or omitting numbers. Some kids have trouble telling time; others have problems with names and faces, or music.
Dyscalculia, like all learning differences, doesn't mean a kid is dumb or lazy. Memory exercises, modified assignments, using calculators, or special classes in school can help.
