A mild febrile illness characterized by a papulovesicular skin rash at the site of a mite bite. The causative agent is Rickettsia akari, a member of the spotted fever group, and transmitted by a colorless mite, Liponyssoides sanguineus, which is found on house mice (Mus musculus). Occurs mostly in cities.
