Originally developing games for the Atari Jaguar, Rebellion's first major success came in October 1994, in the form of Alien vs. Predator, a first-person 3D shooter based on the two major movie licenses. Billed as the first "real" 64-bit software title, and Atari's biggest software launch in ten years, it set a new precedent in intense, terrifying games, with a real movie atmosphere and many effects, graphics and sounds taken straight from the films. It won several International Industry awards. Further Atari Jaguar games followed, including SkyHammerTM and Checkered Flag (sic).
These days, Rebellion develop for the PC, Playstation, GameBoy Color and other advanced systems, working with companies such as Fox Interactive, Microsoft, Tom Clancy's company Red Storm Entertainment, and Infogrames, as well as creating original titles, like Gunlok
