The mission of the Mozilla project is to preserve choice and innovation on the Internet. It comprises a community of developers and testers, producing open-source software, and advocating net standards. The project as a whole is led by the Mozilla Foundation and encompasses its subsidiaries, Mozilla Corporation and Mozilla Messaging, as well as the Mozilla communities world wide The Mozilla Foundation provides organizational, legal, and financial support for the Mozilla project, to ensure that the Mozilla project continues to exist beyond the participation of individual volunteers, to enable contributions of intellectual property and funds and to provide a vehicle for limiting legal exposure.
