BBCode stands for Bulletin Board Code. It a is a lightweight markup language used to format posts in many message boards. Tags are usually surrounded by square brackets ([ ]).

Since it was first introduced by the messageboard software Ultimate Bulletin Board, it is sometimes referred to as UBBCode.
