Born Leila Marie Koerber, she was an actress on the vaudeville circuit, Broadway and in Hollywood films from the silent movie era through to the early 1930s. Marie could easily switch between drama and comedy, and was a popular actress in her time, winning the Academy Award for the film, Min and Bill.
