American comedy team known for their comedic attacks on respectable society and for fast-paced verbal and physical comedy. The team was variously composed of five brothers: Groucho (Julius), Harpo (Arthur), Chico (Leonard), Zeppo (Herbert) and Gummo(Milton). Beginning their career in vaudeville, circa 1908, individually and together, the brothers enjoyed continued popularity in theatre, film, radio and TV up to the 1960's. Gummo left the team during their vaudeville days, Zeppo left around 1930.
