Music style originating in Manchester in the late 1980s, fusing of acid-house dance rhythms and psychedelic pop. Leading bands in the movement include The Stone Roses, The Happy Mondays, The Charlatans and Inspiral Carpets. The movement is also closely associated with Factory Records, New Order and their club the Hacienda. Also known as "baggy".
