Blues harpist "Big" Walter Horton (1917-1981) was born in Mississippi and took his delta style up the river to Chicago, where he teamed with a number of legendary performers during his career. A sensitive and shy man, Big Walter dealt with illness and poverty for much of his life. Because of his speech, he was sometimes called "Mumbles," which he hated, as well as Shakey Walter and Tangle Eye.
