The Maritimes consists of the three provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island - an area of strong fiddling tradition, with a mixture of Scots (Cape Breton), French (Acadian), and Irish immigrant styles.
Maritime fiddling, also referred to as the "Down East" style, draws on all three fiddling heritages. Players of this style include Gerry Robichaud and Don Messer.
