Judith Lang Zaimont (1945-) was born in Memphis, Tennessee and now lives in Edina, Minnesota. She is composer, teacher, wife, mother, musicologist, and musical historian. Thus, she is the subject of multiple essays and doctoral dissertations while at the same time editing the acclaimed book series, The Musical Woman: An International Perspective. She began winning musical awards and honors in the early 1960s and has began anew in the new millennium by being named "Honored Composer" at the Van Cliburn International Competition American Composers Invitational in 2001. She has written vocal and choral, chamber and orchestral, and operatic music. Much of her corpus is Jewish religious music.
