English Romantic composer Sir Henry Rowley Bishop (1786-1855) was popular in his time and was the first musician to be knighted. Since that time, his popularity faded. He is remembered now for two songs, "Lo, Hear the Gentle Lark" and especially for "Home, Sweet Home," written for the J. H. Payne opera Clari.
