Grateful Dead formed in 1965 as The Warlocks, and began playing at Ken Kesey's Acid Tests. The group was influenced by many genres, including rock, country, folk and blues. They released many studio albums, but it was their live shows that won them legions of dedicated fans, known as Deadheads. The group took a hiatus in the 70s and in the 80s, and continued touring until August 9 1995, when front man Jerry Garcia died. Since then the group (Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and various others who have joined them in the past and present) have played together as The Other Ones, and most recently as The Dead. Their Wave That Flag Summer Tour 2004 is currently touring the USA.
