British singer songwriter, born in Oxford in 1979 from Irish parents. Described by 'Uncut' as 'the best British singer / songwriter of the last 10 years'. Her bitter eloquence and purity of voice have drawn comparisons with Ani DiFranco and Suzanne Vega. She has also been described as the genuine heiress to the Bob Dylan-Leonard Cohen-Tom Waits legacy of dark, brilliant indie folk-rock.
