Variously described as experimental, noise, alternative, underground and certainly psychedelic, brothers Wayne and Mark Coyne along with bassist Michael Ivins formed the Flaming Lips in Oklahoma City in 1983. Ten full-length releases later Wayne Coyne remains the center of the band. The summer of 2002 sees "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots" out on Warner Brother Records and Wayne's four-CD experimental romp "Zaireeka" back in print.
