Silent Running - USA (1972), classic science fiction movie directed by Douglas Trumbull. Bruce Dern stars as Freeman Lowell - one of a four man crew aboard the space freighter Valley Forge, looking after plants in giant space greenhouses. When orders from earth are received to destroy the greenhouses, Lowell can't go through with it, and cannot persuade his three colleagues to help him save the plants, so he makes other "arrangements". Original music by Peter Schickele, and songs by Joan Baez.
