The Big Sleep - UK (1978), mystery drama written and directed by Michael Winner, from the novel by Raymond Chandler. An American private eye Philip Marlowe (Robert Mitchum) is hired by the crippled General Sternwood (James Stewart) to protect his uncontrollable younger daughter Camilla (Candy Clark). With Sarah Miles as the older sister Charlotte. Also stars Joan Collins, Edward Fox, John Mills, Oliver Reed, and Harry Andrews. British remake of the 1946 film (with Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall).
