Novelist, short story writer, and university professor. Carol Shields was born in Illinois in 1935 and moved to Canada in 1957. She won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1995 for the novel, The Stone Diaries. Other works include Various Miracles, Small Ceremonies, and Larry's Party.
