1937-1995. Leader of the '60s and '70s "New Wave" of Science Fiction writing blurring the line with Fantasy - and in fact accepting no boundaries to the genre. Best works include "Lord of Light" (1967), "This Immortal" (1966), "Creatures of Light and Darkness" (1969), and the Amber series, as well as many excellent short stories and collections. Some of his best known works were based on mythology as seen through the eyes of science fiction: Lord of Light on the Hindu pantheon, Creatures of Light and Darkness on the Ancient Egyptian pantheon, Eye of Cat on Navajo religion and folklore. Winner of 6 Hugos and 2 Nebulas. Thanks to the IMDb biography.
