From 1981 to 1995, David Quammen authored the "Natural Acts" column for Outside magazine, winning the National Magazine Award twice. He also has written for Esquire, Harper's and Rolling Stone magazines, is the author of several books, both fiction and nonfiction, and has received a Guggenheim Fellowship, a BP Natural World Book Prize and a John Burroughs Medal for nature writing.
