Winged horses and other equines in fiction may range from pegasi to zebras with butterfly wings to winged sea-horses able to fly over and through water. The wings of these equines may be of feathers, hide, scales, light gossamer, or other various type in any colour or transparency. Some may fly while others have them as decoration. Stories and art of flying horses occur in both modern times and in traditional legends.
