Hedi Slimane held previous appointments, but his tenure from 1997 to 2000 at Yves Saint Laurent menswear set his star on the rise. His first show at Dior Homme Fall 2001, amid bitter fallout from corporate takeovers, propelled his status to that of instant legend.

His shows increased the popularity of men's presentations exponentially and across the board; the added title of manager for the global image of the brand sustains that.
